Built Over a Decade: 10 Years of Axiom

Ten years ago, Axiom started with a shared desk, one order, and celebratory burgers at Chili’s.

A lot has changed since then.

What began in Calgary in 2016 has grown year after year, expanding across Canada, entering the U.S. market, building a growing distribution network, and developing a wider range of temporary surface protection solutions for jobsites across North America.

But that growth didn’t happen overnight. It came one order, one new market, one new team member, and one milestone at a time.

As Axiom celebrates 10 years, we’re looking back at some of the moments that got us here.

2016 | It Starts With One Order

Every timeline has to start somewhere.

For Axiom, that was a shared desk space and a vision for something bigger. Then, on November 18, 2016, the first Axiom order came in.

Naturally, there was only one way to celebrate: burgers at Chili’s.

It may have been just one order, but it officially put Axiom in business and started a journey that would eventually stretch far beyond Calgary.

2017 | Finding Our Feet

With only a couple months behind us, we were already building.

2017 brought several important firsts, including our first custom-printed order and our first container order of Armour Protection Fleece.

Axiom also headed to Buildex in November, getting our products and name in front of more of the construction industry.

The foundation was being laid, and we were starting to find our feet.

2018 | Getting Serious

In 2018, we expanded our customer base and inventory, grew the team, and established a northern warehouse in Edmonton. It was an early step toward something that would eventually become a major part of the Axiom model: keeping the products contractors need closer to the jobsites where they need them.

With more people, more inventory, and a growing regional presence, we were beginning to build the foundation for its next stage of growth.

2019 | Making Room For Growth

Three years in, we needed more than a shared desk.

2019 saw the setup of our first dedicated office, marking another step in the transition from startup to an established, growing business. The team continued to expand too, adding support across key areas of the company.

More space, more people, and more business. Axiom was building the infrastructure needed for what came next.

2020 | Adapting When Everything Changed

Then came 2020.

COVID changed the construction industry and created challenges no one could have predicted. For a brief period, Axiom pivoted into supplying COVID-related products before refocusing on what we do best.

Even amid the uncertainty, the company continued moving forward.

Our Calgary office expanded into additional space, an Eastern Warehouse was established in Toronto, and we placed our first container order for Armour Films. The team also continued to grow across Operations and Sales

It was a year that required adaptability, but it also laid more of the groundwork for our future growth.

2021 | Building Momentum

By 2021, that momentum was becoming increasingly visible.

Our sales presence expanded into Ontario and Quebec, while the team continued to grow behind the scenes. Our sample box program also started taking shape, supporting a hands-on way for contractors to experience Axiom products before putting them to work onsite.

Across the company, the team completed 45,000 activities during the year as we continued to build our reach, processes, and customer base.

2022 | Growth Across Canada

In 2022, we focused on expanding our reach and making temporary surface protection more accessible to jobsites across Canada.

We expanded our office and warehouse, established a new distribution center in Winnipeg, and launched a refreshed brand and website.

Growing our distribution network allowed us to keep products closer to the jobsites that needed them, helping provide faster, more reliable access to protection across more regions.

By this point, the business that started with one Calgary order was building the infrastructure and reach to support jobsites across the country.

2023 | Perfecting The Process

Growth isn’t just about getting bigger. It’s also about getting better.

In 2023, the focus turned toward perfecting the processes behind that growth. We developed our Sales + Marketing Playbook and expanded our lead-generation program to improve how we identified and supported projects under construction.

At the same time, our physical footprint continued to grow with a new Quebec Distribution Center in Montreal.

And Axiom was no longer operating solely within Canada. By the end of the year, our products had been sold across Canada and in 18 U.S. states

The next chapter was beginning.

2024 | Building Our U.S. Presence

2024 represented what we called a “Step Change for Growth.”

Axiom went live with a new ERP system, Odoo, while the team continued expanding across Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance, Sales Support, and Lead Generation.

But one milestone in particular signaled where Axiom was headed next.

We established a Distribution Center in Seattle, Washington, our first in the United States.

Eight years after starting from a shared desk in Calgary, Axiom now had a physical distribution presence on both sides of the border.

2025 | Setting The Stage For The Next Decade

With a foundation established across Canada and a growing presence in the U.S., 2025 was about preparing Axiom for another stage of growth.

More than four new products were added to the range. A new Distribution Center was established in Dallas, Texas. Axiom also moved into a new head office and master Distribution Center, while our internal structure continued to evolve with more specialized roles across Marketing, Business Development, Sales, and Customer Service.

By the end of the year, we had processed 5,850 orders, a far cry from the single order that started everything nine years earlier

2026 | 10 Years In

And that brings us to today.

Ten years after that first order, Axiom is still growing.

One of our biggest milestones of 2026 was the opening of our Miami, Florida Distribution Center, further expanding our U.S. presence and making temporary surface protection more accessible to jobsites throughout the state.

With dedicated regional sales support and a distribution network reaching across North America, we're better positioned to supply contractors throughout Florida, from Miami and Fort Lauderdale to Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville, and beyond.

The shared desk has become a head office and master Distribution Center, supported by a network of seven Distribution Centers across Canada and the United States. Our team has grown and specialized, our reach has expanded, and our product range has continued to evolve alongside the jobsites we serve.

That evolution continues today with the introduction of new products like Armour Vert-Shield, expanding our range of temporary surface protection options to address the changing needs of modern jobsites. From innovative new products to improvements across our existing range, we're continually working to provide contractors with more effective ways to protect finished surfaces.

And while the scale has changed, the goal behind what we do remains straightforward: help contractors reduce risk by protecting finished surfaces from costly jobsite damage.

Because temporary surface protection isn't just about covering a floor, wall, door, cabinet, or other finished surface. It's about helping prevent the rework, repairs, cleanup, delays, and unnecessary costs that damage leaves behind.

Conclusion: One Decade Down. Plenty More to Come.

Looking back at 10 years makes one thing especially clear: Axiom’s story has always been about what’s next.

The next product. The next market. The next Distribution Center. The next way to make protecting a jobsite simpler and more effective.

From one order in Calgary to a growing presence across North America, every step has helped build the Axiom we know today.

To our customers, partners, suppliers, and every team member who has been part of the journey over the last decade, thank you.

You helped turn that first order into 10 years of Axiom.

And we’re just getting started.
